Our first book will be: Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. While looking at another one of Verghese's books, I realized that I read an article about him recently. The article gives a brief introduction to the author and why he recently moved to Palo Alto.
(Some people voted by email-- I think the final tally was 5 for Verghese and 2 for Kurson).

book one
Welcome to our family book club. If I forgot to invite someone, please let me know.
After extensive conversation with members in RI and Athens, it has been decided that:
1) We will read four books a year.
2) For now, it's just family.
3) Comments will be moderated.
4) We will vote to decide each book.
Of course, these rules may be changed if things don't seem to be working.
Please vote for the book you'd like to read first (July-Sep '09) in the poll to the left of the screen. Voting closes on June 5th, next Friday.
